Ski Bulgaria for children and adults

Bulgaria is one of the fastest growing ski destinations in Europe, popular for its wide quality pistes and reasonable prices.

Borovets, Pamporovo and Bansko are the best ski resorts in Bulgaria, each boasting modern amenities, comfortable accommodations and numerous after-ski activities. Including ski rental, ski passes, accommodation and a fun afternoon program, prices for ski resorts in Bulgaria are almost always cheaper than other popular resorts in Western Europe.

For example, the prices for the ski resort in Bulgaria, Bansko, have established themselves as ideal for lovers of an economical vacation. But at the same time, this ski resort in Bulgaria proudly bears the title of the most modern and equipped winter resort in all of Eastern Europe.

The ski resort is located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains, 2.5 hours drive from the capital, Sofia.

Skiing in Bansko is 70 km of groomed ski slopes, and an impressive virgin land beyond them for extreme skiing enthusiasts. This ski resort in Bulgaria has trails for night skiing and 10 trails for children. The town itself is located at an altitude of 936 meters, and the ski area is 1100 – 2500 meters.

The Bansko ski resort is ideal for families with children, thanks to the easy gentle slopes and the Ski Club for children. If you want to put your child on skis during your holidays in Bulgaria, then using the funicular (Banderishka Polyana), you will go straight to the children’s club. For 30 euros per day (for 4 hours of lessons), the instructor will teach your child to ride. This price already includes equipment rental, ski pass and lunch. The ski resorts in Bulgaria, and especially Bansko, are also great for beginner skiers and snowboarders.

Things to do?
After a long day on the slopes, spend the evening tasting traditional Bulgarian food in one of the many mehan (taverns) in Bansko, or enjoy one of the 27 thermal mineral springs in the nearby village of Banya. The best way to get here is by shuttle bus or rental car, as the journey takes about two hours during the winter months.

You can also visit the Pirin Nature Reserve, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The ski resort of Bansko itself is a real “open-air museum”, as there are more than 140 cultural monuments in this area.

During excavations, a well-preserved large Thracian fortress, sanctuaries, early Christian churches and a Byzantine fortress were discovered.

In various museums in Bansko, guests of the city can also “meet” great personalities who were born, lived and worked in the city and remained in history. There is a special memorial dedicated to Paisiy Khilendarsky, and a large modern building houses unique exhibitions dedicated to the life and work of the author of “Slavic-Bulgarian History”.

In the museum complex you can also see the unique works of the Bansko school of painting and icon painting, as well as a typical Bansko-Bulgarian house of the Renaissance, which has a very specific architecture and construction. There are many interesting churches on the cultural tourism routes of Bansko, one of which is even protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Where to stay?
Ski resorts in Bulgaria offer modern hotels at prices significantly lower than Alpine prices, and at the same time with a high level of service and comfort. You will find more options on our website. Or you can write to us and we will select the ideal option for you.
